Hong Kong introduces world-class services to UAE companies


A high-level business mission from Hong Kong will be in Dubai later this month to promote its investment and infrastructure services to UAE companies.

The mission will be co-led by Mr. Frederick Ma, Hong Kong’s Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, and Mr. Fred Lam, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Accompanying them will be 27 Hong Kong firms from the two service sectors. It is the first mission of its kind from Hong Kong.

The mission will meet UAE government officials and business counterparts. Mission members will also speak at a business seminar and network with potential investors and property developers from the UAE.

“Hong Kong has been doing business with the Middle East for many years covering a wide range of product sectors,” said Jeff Ambjorn, Director of the HKTDC’s Dubai office. “It is now time to take our relations to the next level, by introducing key Hong Kong service capabilities to companies in this region.”

For Middle East investors looking to diversify their investments beyond the traditional markets of Europe and the United States, the scale of opportunity in Asia is huge. And Hong Kong, as Asia’s international financial centre plays a key role as the platform for channeling investments into Asian and mainland Chinese companies.

In addition to the financial sector, Hong Kong has a significant cluster of world-class professionals covering interior design, architecture, project management, engineering, construction and property management. They can help developers and project owners materialize construction plans efficiently and effectively.

The business seminar in Dubai entitled “Hong Kong – Your global finance and infrastructure partner” will take place on 26 February 2006 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
