Tower Hamlets Council has entered into a partnership with DigiCore to develop and implement dynamic vehicle tracking solutions within the London Borough. This will initially see the introduction of a sophisticated technology solution for a fleet of Council minibuses and coaches responsible for moving children and adults with special needs to and from schools, colleges and day centres and supporting school sports curricular activities.



The Council has identified vehicle tracking as an opportunity to optimise its existing infrastructure and improve its services. It is committed to adopting technological solutions that support its vision to improve the quality of life for everyone who live and work in Tower Hamlets.



DigiCore’s C-track vehicle tracking and fleet management tool will be installed in a fleet of 60 passenger vehicles, which transport over 1,200 people to and from over 40 sites within the borough on a daily basis. The solution has been selected to achieve greater visibility and control over the minibus and coach fleet to ensure that Tower Hamlets meets Government guidelines on the transportation of special needs children and adults.



Tower Hamlets Council has invested heavily to ensure that people with special needs receive an excellent transport service. The vehicle tracking system will integrate with an existing routeing and scheduling package. The system will provide real-time positioning to optimise the collection and delivery of passengers within strict time limits by creating a more effective transport network.



Other benefits will include the automation of reporting processes and the ability to further enhance efficiency through the evaluation of historical vehicle and route data. The system will also reduce the administrative burden and work-load for both drivers and office-based employees.
