Lousy Holiday Gifts - an International Problem

(PRLEAP.COM) You know what they are. It could be an ugly sweater from Aunt Mildred, the bottle of cheap cologne (that you’re allergic to), or some gimmicky gadget stores try to unload around the Holidays. A blogger identified only as “garp” mentions one such purely Holiday item, “The Chia Pet is a gift that screams last minute. Who really wants a clay animal that allows you to grow alfalfa sprouts out of its back?”

“  Who really wants a clay animal that allows you to grow alfalfa sprouts out of its back?.
They’re the kind of gifts that make you wonder, does this person even know me? A quick Google search reinforces the obvious; each year, millions of people are affected by the problem of Lousy Holiday Gifts. As one web site puts it, “These are gifts that not even Goodwill would accept.” And the problem is not confined to the U.S. A post on an Australian web site warns, “Be careful if you re-wrap a crappy gift and give it to someone else. No one knows if you repackage a fruit cake from last year, everyone knows if you repackage the puppy.” Worse than Regifting, many of these “awful” gifts are destined for our landfills.

The 16 Kicks Garage Sale’s War on Regifting offers Denver area residents the opportunity to find a good home for the “bad” presents. Now, unfortunate gift recipients have a way to get their unwanted items to people who would really appreciate them. Rather than Regifting those “lame” presents, the 16 Kicks Garage Sale provides a forum in which listeners may buy, sell or trade items online, or on the weekly 16 Kicks Garage Sale Radio Show (Saturday morning 6-7 a.m.), and use the cash to buy a gift they really like.

The War on Regifting is environmentally conscious. Providing a venue for selling, or exchanging these unappreciated Holiday gifts is an innovative form of recycling that will keep them from clogging our landfills.

By offering free Classified Advertising through January of 2006, at http://16KicksGarageSale.com, the 16 Kicks Garage Sale is putting its money where its mouth is in the War on Regifting. Of course, sellers can sell just about anything (as long as it’s legal) with the free ads, not just unwanted Holiday gifts. And to help speed the sale process, sellers may include up to 2 photos with each free Classified Ad.

The 16 Kicks Garage Sale is Denver’s Community Radio Show, broadcast on KCKK (1600 AM) radio every Saturday morning from 6-7. Helping Non-Profits get their message out to is a primary objective, with fundraisers, events and volunteer needs promoted both on the radio show and on the company website. The talk format is lively, fueled by listeners calling in to buy, sell & trade their treasures free on the radio.
