New Patent for Treadmill Safety Covers May Reduce Injuries

April 23, 2005 -- Local Patent Attorney Helps Get Patent for Safety Cover for Treadmills

“  The universal rear safety cover for treadmills is a patent that can benefit many individuals
The Patent, Copyright & Trademark Law Group, LLC announces one of their clients received a patent for their invention of a Universal Rear Safety Cover for treadmills.

“The universal rear safety cover for treadmills is a patent that can benefit many individuals,” said John Gugliotta, Patent Attorney. “This device will help prevent injury caused by clothing, shoelaces or other items that may get entangled in the rear roller while working out on a treadmill.”

Physical fitness and health related issues are of high concern among Americans today. More people are frequenting health clubs or exercising at home in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The treadmill, one of the most popular exercise machines, is also one of the more dangerous, resulting in hundreds of people treated in emergency rooms each year. One problem with treadmills is the exposed rear roller, which allows the user to simply roll off of the back of the treadmill.

The Universal Rear Safety Cover for treadmills helps to solve the safety issue of the exposed rear roller. It takes the form of a “C” shaped guard that encompasses the rear roller across its entire width and fastens to the main side rails of the treadmill. The two-piece guard uses a slip arrangement to accommodate treadmills of differing widths.

Gugliotta successfully prepares patent applications for individuals internationally, with a heavy concentration on small entities from Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania from his offices in Northeast Ohio.
