The Elemental Arts – Reinventing conceptual movement(PRLEAP.COM) In a time where we are needing to reconnect to earth, energy and base life, we seem to be intent on doing just the opposite. Hiding ourselves away in tall office towers that reach far above the earth’s warming welcome. We as a society seemed to have lost our innate understanding of ourselves as a whole, and in doing so, are no longer aware of the working of ourselves, on both an energetic level and a physical level. Conceptual movement is the learning, working through, trialling and applying of various different forms of movement that give rise to conceptual thinking and life. Being able to move yourself conceptually in every-day activities is a powerfully empowering thing. All sorts of people, from all walks of life are able to gain an insight into themselves on both a physical and energetic level through the elemental arts course. This course, which is taught as 4 main different levels within the elemental arts, is an environment, a sanctuary and an open circle for all people to learn the basic forms and fundaments which then lead them onto creating their own concepts for everyday living and awareness of movement and the self. The aim of the elemental arts, is to empower people with the tools to create their own conceptual movement and deep understanding of life, the body, expression, thinking and moving all in a conceptual way, while all the time aiming to better the body through muscle building, stretching, movement and safe-working. The elemental arts work on the fundamentals of conceptual life and movement through the use of elemental focus sessions. Basically, the group looks at and works through concepts of movement, thinking and life as is represented in each of the 4 main elemental areas, that is, those of earth, water, fire and wind. The first of these courses, elem.worker (I), is offered as a 2 weekend intensive, or a 4 week evening course consisting of 2, 2-hour sessions per elemental focus. So in essence, the course group spends 4 hours per week (in a normal 4 week course) over 2 days per week, working on concepts that revolve entirely around that particular elemental focus so that the practitioner has enough of a fundamental base to begin understanding and applying these tools and concepts to their own lives and movement. From this point, there are then 3 more levels of certificates which can be studied in order, each of which works on deeper and deeper conceptual understanding. The Elemental Arts course, 1st certificate level (elem.worker (I) certificate) is being offered around the country.
