India’s telecom watchdog on Tuesday directed service suppliers to cease all promotional calls from unregistered callers and blacklist them because it seems to be to sort out a surge in spam and phishing calls that has seen individuals lose thousands and thousands of rupees.

“All promotional voice calls from the unregistered senders/unregistered telemarketer utilizing Telecom Assets shall be stopped instantly,” the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India stated in an announcement shared by the federal government.
