The Reserve Financial institution had imposed the restrictions on the corporate’s unit on March 4, prohibiting the NBFC from “sanctioning, disbursing, or assigning/securitising/promoting any of its gold loans”.  

IIFL got here underneath regulatory scrutiny amid a crackdown on monetary corporations. RBI had instructed it to halt new gold-backed lending as a result of “materials supervisory considerations”. Over the previous months, IIFL took corrective actions to deal with the problems raised by the regulator.

IIFL Finance is among the high two non-banking finance corporations (NBFCs) within the gold mortgage enterprise. It had dropped 33 per cent year-on-year (YoY) and 37 p.c sequentially from March 30, 2024.
