South Korea’s suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol was detained on Wednesday morning following a daybreak raid by police and investigators on his fortified hilltop compound.
Yoon’s detention adopted a six-hour stand-off between legislation enforcement officers and members of the president’s safety element.
The operation started shortly after 4am on Wednesday. It was the second try this month by South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Workplace to detain Yoon for questioning on revolt and abuse of workplace costs associated to his failed try to impose martial legislation in December.
An preliminary effort to detain Yoon this month was foiled by his safety officers following a tense hours-long stand-off on the presidential residence.
