Peloton launches Bike and Tread for gyms

Peloton Interactive Inc. has introduced a new line of fitness equipment tailored for commercial environments, including gyms and hotels. This initiative represents the company’s strategic shift to penetrate the multibillion-dollar commercial fitness market, moving beyond its traditional focus on home users. CEO Peter Stern noted that many gym operators expressed strong interest in incorporating Peloton products due to demand from their members.

The new offerings include durable versions of Peloton’s Bike and Tread, designed to withstand the rigors of high-traffic gym settings. The launch is part of Peloton’s commercial unit, developed in collaboration with Precor, a fitness equipment maker acquired by the company in 2021. While specific gym partnerships have not been disclosed, Peloton currently services notable clients like Hyatt and Hilton, expanding its presence globally with access to more than 60 countries through Precor’s distribution network.

Pricing details for the new equipment have yet to be announced, though Stern assured that they would be positioned competitively, with further information expected closer to the products’ intended launch in late 2026. Despite the enthusiasm for the effort, some fitness chains may hesitate to adopt Peloton equipment, preferring to promote their in-house classes and instructors.

Peloton’s expansion into commercial spaces has been gradual, and while they have made strides with hotel partnerships, integration into larger gym environments remains challenging due to past issues with product durability and recalls. The company recently reported that its revenues from the commercial unit rose by 10% even as overall sales declined by approximately 3%, indicating a potential pivot towards a more sustainable business model.
