Despite her recent challenges, Vonn remains optimistic about the possibility of competing in the 2030 Winter Olympics when she would be 45 years old. In a recent interview with CNBC Sport, she stated that she might consider making a return to the Olympics, contingent on her ability to be competitive. “It’s been done,” Vonn noted, acknowledging that any potential comeback would depend on her speed.
Currently, Vonn is using crutches as she recuperates from her crash, which occurred during her first downhill run at the Milano Cortina Olympics in February. She anticipates being able to walk unassisted by the end of April but faces an upcoming surgery to remove metal from her leg and repair her ACL, which she injured just nine days before the Olympics.
If Vonn were to participate in the 2030 Games, she would join the ranks of the oldest Olympic skiers in history. In February, fellow alpine skier Sarah Schleper competed for Mexico at the age of 46 and finished 26th in the women’s Olympic Super-G.
