Norwegian shares surge 13% on earnings beat, guidance raise

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings experienced a significant rise in its stock prices, climbing 13% following a positive third-quarter earnings report. The company reported a revenue of $2.95 billion, surpassing Wall Street’s anticipated figure of $2.88 billion. Its net income for the quarter stood at $491 million, translating to an earnings per share (EPS) of $1.07.

Additionally, the company’s adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) reached $937 million, exceeding prior expectations. The adjusted EPS of $1.12 not only surpassed its previous forecast of 90 cents but also beat analysts’ estimates of 94 cents. In light of this stronger-than-expected performance, Norwegian raised its full-year guidance, now projecting an adjusted EBITDA of $2.55 billion and an adjusted EPS of approximately $1.70 for 2026.

Despite the positive earnings, Norwegian acknowledged that bookings have only "improved modestly" and remain below optimal levels. To address this, the company plans to implement new marketing strategies, including the introduction of a marketing platform scheduled for launch in January. Moreover, enhancements like a new waterpark at its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, are anticipated to boost demand.

In another development, Norwegian’s current Chief Financial Officer Mark Kempa will step down after a tenure of over 25 years. Meghan Montana, who serves as the chief strategy officer, is set to assume the CFO role starting January 1.
