Pune-based payments firm Phi Commerce has appointed Rajesh Londhe as its new chief executive officer (CEO), promoting him from his previous position as head of payments. Jose Thattil, who previously served as CEO, will transition to executive chairman and focus on the company’s long-term strategic direction, including new-market strategies, investor relations, fundraising, and global mergers and acquisitions.
In his new role, Londhe will oversee the company’s global strategy and profit and loss management, with a specific focus on international expansion, enterprise technology, and product innovation. Londhe emphasized the company’s intent to evolve from a primarily India-centric business to a comprehensive full-stack acquiring and issuing platform aimed at global markets.
Speaking on the changes, Londhe noted, “Phi Commerce is stepping into a far larger opportunity.” The fintech firm aims to target banks, payment processors, and large enterprises with its integrated technology stack. Londhe expressed confidence in enhancing the company’s capabilities, while Thattil stated that Londhe’s leadership will sharpen the company’s focus on scale and execution.
Recently, Londhe highlighted that the company is focusing on deploying its payment solutions among small and mid-sized banks. This strategy is expected to increase the contribution of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products to 40% of revenue within the next 18 months, up from the current 20% stake, while the remainder will come from payment aggregation services.
